This car -
originally a 1973 Triumph GT6 Mk3 - looks stock from the outside except for the Imron
gold metallic paint and dual exhaust pipes.
Hidden
beneath the stock body panels, though, lives "the right stuff" to make it go:
- 3.5 liter aluminum V8 (Buick 215 cubic inch) - 185 hp and 230 foot pounds of torque from the factory
- 110 pounds lighter than the original 2.0 liter
inline six

- Edelbrock Performer carb with electric choke
and Edelbrock Performer manifold
- hotter cam (still suitable for street driving)
- custom radiator with dual electric fans
- remote oil filter
- steel-braided hoses
- Borg Warner T-5 transmission and Nissan 260-Z differential
- five forward gears - no electric overdrive to fail
- racers consider the Nissan rear end to be bullet-proof
- geared for a very theoretical top speed of
163 at 6000 rpm - 60mph cruise is at 2200rpm
- GT6 fully independent rear suspension with Datsun 510 axles
- stock GT6 lower wishbones and adjustable radius
rods
- steel u-joints where the rubber Rotoflexes
were
- GT6 hubs machined to accept stronger Datsun
axles
- Wheels, tires, and brakes
- custom eight spoke Enkei alloy wheels - 13" x 5.5" fronts and 13" x 6" rears
- so-so radials - 185-70's on the front and 205-60's on the rear
- stock GT6 brakes and lug bolt circle

- Non-drivetrain features
- Kenwood AM-FM cassette with Jensen speakers
- flat-face (Cibie-style) headlamps
- mini driving lights
- a considerable amount of documentation (the constructor's 2"
thick notebook)
Sadly, we sold this amazing little car in an eBay auction
(September 10, 2003).
The new owner, however, promises to terrorize the backroads of Denver
with it on a regular basis - keep an eye out for him!
