RADICAL MORRIS MINOR ROOFLINES

Stock 2dr roofline

The stock 2-door Morris Minor to the right has the unnecessarily high, rounded roof that seems taller than the body underneath!

It also has the early (smaller) rear window like Moe, our 1950 Minor.

So, what are the options?

A. The "standard" chop

This Minor is described as having "a 3-1/2" roof chop with a flattened centre . . ."
(ignore the gasser chassis and supercharger scoop).

B. The "tapered" chop

Paul Kelly (Australia) chopped this one "3 1/2" at the front and 5 1/2" at the rear."
It also has the later model (larger) rear window.

C. The "coupe" chop.

This metallic red Minor is one that has been converted from a 4-door, four passenger sedan (saloon in the UK) to a 2-door, two passenger coupe. The roof appears to be pretty close to full height.

The white coupe to the left was described by the photographer as being "chopped by about 4 inches" and I believe there's an extra 10" or so between the trunk and roof.

D. The "total" chop.

This roadster's top folds up, but the same look could be achieved with a rigid "Carson top."
